Do you pray the armor of God verses over your ministry?
As writer’s, leaders, influencer’s, and women in ministry, we have a target on our back’s. We have a very REAL enemy, who has a very REAL mission.
A mission to steal, to kill, and to destroy.
Divide and to conquer.
To strike fear in the heart’s of men (and women) in hopes of diverting us from fulfilling our call.
This life we live is a battlefield, and we are in a war of mass proportion.
Should this surprise us? Not really.
Scripture reminds us,
“Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows.” But...
(Don’t you just love those “but God” statements?)
“BUT, take heart! For I have overcome the world!” (John 16:33)
And that’s the best news yet!
I know that many of us are in a battle right now. Our families are being attacked. Our health is being attacked. Our mind’s have come under attack.
Not to mention our finances, our reputations, our marriages, our spiritual lives, our peace..
The enemy is relentless. He will stop at NOTHING. And while we serve a God who has already overcome, we too have a responsibility to take up the armor of God and stand our ground against the wiles of the enemy.
Pray with me?
Father God, we begin this day, (and everyday), by strapping on the full armor of God to better prepare us to stand our ground against the enemy’s attacks.
- May we be wrapped about with the belt of truth, to help us discern and tear down the enemy’s lies. May your truth guide us and guard us in everything we do. Scripture reminds us that your sheep know your voice. (John 10:27) Help us to distinguish your voice above the voice of the world, and bravely be ambassadors of truth in our ministries, never compromising the Word of God for the sake of fortune or fame.
- We shield our heart, the most important part of the body, with the breastplate of righteousness, for from it flows the springs of life. (Proverbs 4:23) May our heart’s always be in the right place, in how we speak, what we write, and all we do. Help us to forgive when we need to forgive, be humble when we need to be humble, and lay every offense at your feet. And keep us from temptation, so that our integrity remains in tact, when the day of evil comes knocking at our door.
- We dress our feet with readiness to share the gospel of peace to a lost and desperate world. May we be willing to go wherever you would call us to go, and to do whatever you would call us to do. (This takes on all new meaning, with the help of social media, where we have the opportunity to be in several places at once, and all over the world!) Help us to remain ready at all times, fully surrendered, knowing that we do not go alone, for you, of God, go with us!
- May we never lay down our shield of faith, but carry it with us wherever we go. Protect us from the flaming arrows of the enemy. May we remember who we are, WHOSE we are, and who goes with us. Help us to trust you in all circumstances, and know that your plans for us are good, to give us hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11) May we have faith that you will work, and are working all things together for our good, in our ministry, and in our homes!
- Let our mind and our thoughts always be covered & protected by the helmet of salvation. The work you did for us on the cross is real and is final. No one, or no thing, can ever snatch us from your hands. (John 10:28) When we become anxious or worried, turn our eyes towards you, where we shall be kept in perfect peace. (Isaiah 26:3) May we avoid becoming discouraged when we don’t see the results in our ministry that we long for. Our validation does not come from the world, but from God! And we know that you are a proud daddy, regardless of the size of our email list!
- And finally, we take up the Sword of the Spirit, your very Word, alive & active and sharper than any two-edged sword, stronger than any other weapon in heaven or on earth, and mighty to demolish strongholds and refute worldly arguments. (2 Corinthians 10:4) May we never be without it! May we always be bold and courageous in the face of danger, piercing the darkness with your luminous light!
God, help us to always be dressed and prepared for battle, but may we do most of our fighting on our knees!!
In Jesus’ name, amen!
“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and sword of the Spirit which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions, with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” (Eph. 6:10-18)

These prayers are spectacular, Rachel. I have been asked to lead a men’s Bible study on this passage in a couple of weeks. I may have to borrow some of your insights;) Thank you for reminding us to arm ourselves every day and pray for the saints. Satan is always on the prowl. May we stay prepared to fight the good fight and glorify our Savior. Have a wonderful weekend, and God bless you.

Rachel, I”m so thankful for you and your blog today. I am in a dark time of questioning my place in church, ministry and connections and God used your words today to show me how I can be praying about this instead of feeling helpless. Thank you for the inspiration. laurensparks.net

I really enjoyed this. We have been talking alot about spiritual warfare and the armor of God in our family. I have been teaching my kids that it is something that should never be taken off. The moment we let our guard down is the moment the enemy will attack. We need to always be alert and on guard. Thank you for sharing.
