Do You Have People?
The Better Connected – Solid Advice, Sharing Sorrows
Do you have people? The kind that help you connect to God?
We are better together. I need someone to tell my story to. The Man-in-Plaid tries to listen. I do have so. many. stories.
I said to Mark:
I need you to ask me how I’m feeling…
He replied:
But I constantly know how you’re feeling!
Ha! True enough. I’m not one to keep my feelings to myself. I got that from Mom. (Right, Mom?)
We need each other to tell our stories to, to get some solid advice and to share our sorrows.
I invited myself over to Liz’s for coffee this morning. I said, “can I come over? Your house is cleaner.”
Not that it matters. It mattered more to me when I was younger.
Some wisdom comes with age.
I needed some solid advice. Best to ask someone who loves God, who loves you, and who knows how God’s Word applies to life–hers and yours.
We shared and prayed over tea and scones. We were better together.
“Friends love at all times; they are born for times of adversity.” Proverbs 17:17
Today, what does Adversity look like in your life?
-lack of sleep?
-lack of finances?
-lack of support?
-lack of security?
-lack of friends?
Ask God to fix up that last one and you’ll be one step better for all the rest. Think about it: if you lack a friend, adversity is multiplied. Loneliness exacerbates all the other lacks.
I love my friend and mentor, Laurie. We share our adversity over coffee and chocolate on a regular basis. She always signs her emails with:
Praying and Believing,
Laurie
Even if I forget to believe or pray, there’s Laurie praying and believing for me. I’m a better me because I’m connected to someone connected to God.
Liz and Laurie: two people who connect me to God–for stories, for counsel, for sorrows.
God doesn’t mean for us to journey alone.
Who can you journey with today – to make your load easier — or maybe another’s?
Invite yourself over. Invite someone over. Finding your people is all in an invitation.
Prayer for your day, adversity or not:
Father,
Thank you for your love and grace. Grace me with a new friend. Help me see past myself to reach out to another. They may need me and need You, through me. Thank you and Amen.
Invite yourself over. Invite someone over. Finding your people is all in an invitation. #hospitality #bettertogether @welcomeheart Share on X

I would not be where I am today if it were not for my friends. However, since taking up writing I am not getting enough time with friends. You have prompted me to take a better look at my schedule and intentionally add more time for friends. I need it.
Sue Donaldson says
Sometimes we need to put it on the schedule. Writing can be lonely, I know that. I try to put one believer and one unbeliever on list per week – since we’re here for a reason.
Liz says

SCOTT WYCOFF says
Hi, did you know there are spells to win love back from an ex. I have done it. I love reading about relationships and how to make them work, how to better the relationship, and how to keep the spark alive, even how to talk to them a certain way to get them to think a different way about the situation and you. If you need advice or want to win your ex back, try DR EMU copy and message on the following ( Email: emutemple@gmail.com ) or ( WhatsApp: +2347012841542 ) It will change your mentality and get you what you want.
