20 Comforting Quotes on Miscarriage & Infant Loss for Grieving Moms
If you’ve found yourself here, chances are you, or someone you know, has suffered a heartbreaking loss.
My hope is that by providing a few of my favorite quotes on miscarriage and infant loss, it will offer comfort and encouragement to those who have found themselves traveling this oft lonely road.
Empathy is birthed through personal experience.
I remember my own miscarriage story like it was yesterday.
My sweet baby boy, born into the palm of my hands, but carried away in a small shoe box.
He was perfect in every way— only he wasn’t alive.
I never knew him. Not really. But oh the dreams I had for him. For us.
Dreams that died when he did..
It’s a rude awakening.
Returning home from the birth center that day, was the worst.
My heart as empty as my womb.
My husband, silent— keenly aware that no words were necessary—helped me into bed, kissed my forehead, and left to attend to our 2 children.
I was fatigued, and sleep was elusive. But eventually the exhaustion won out.
Morning came, forcing us to relive our nightmare, yet again.
The tear-stained pillows bearing witness to the ache throughout the night.
The minutes rolled into days..
Days rolled into weeks..
Weeks rolled into months..
And life continued as usual.
Perhaps that’s what makes pregnancy loss so painful.
The world keeps on spinning, even though ours was spinning out of control.
It was hard to reconcile.
I was fully aware that there was something— someone— missing.
But there was no evidence of such. Aside from the gaping wound left in my heart.
The pain is real.
Pregnancy loss is scantly any different than traveling a path whose destination, although supposed to be filled with awe and wonder, leads only to a dead end.
For mother’s who have lost a child long before the world even acknowledges them as one, it can be an indescribable kind of pain.
There’s an eerie silence that transpires, in the wake of such loss.
The world simply does not know how to respond, and so, very often, they just don’t.
We are suddenly, unexpectedly, ushered into a life of loneliness and sorrow, no mother should have to bare.
Though we may feel lonely, we are not alone.
Dear one, if this is you, you are not alone. There are countless others who know this pain well.
Those who have gone before, and who will come behind.
A simple scour of the internet, will unveil them. Desperately seeking, crying out for someone to take notice.
To acknowledge the life — the loss.
The tears. The emptiness. The shame.
Oh, there’s shame. You better believe!
We question what we could have done differently. Whether it was possible to prevent the loss.
Should I have slept more? Exercised less? Prayed harder?
The pain is real. The hurt, not absent, though our growing bellies might be.
The statistics are staggering.
Pregnancy loss affects 1 out of every 4 women.
If you, like myself and the countless others, fall into that category, my heart is with you— for you.
I see you. Hear you. Acknowledge you.
Dear mother, you are not alone.
I’ve chosen to share a few of my favorite quotes on miscarriage & infant loss below.
The world may not notice, but there are several of us who do.
May your heart find comfort here..

I never had a miscarriage, so I can only imagine the pain and I’m sure my imagination doesn’t begin to scratch the surface of it all, Rachel. But I’m so glad you wrote this inspiring post for all the moms out there who are suffering just as you suffered. I’m certain it will be a beacon of light and encouragement in the darkness of it all. How pitiable that a lot of women have different levels of ailments today but can’t find the right cure.
I never believed in herbal remedies until i ordered it as i got so frustrated, helpless and left without any more options.
I suffered from hormonal imbalances, irregular menstrual periods and blocked falopian tube as a result I could not conceive for 5 years.
But I thank God that today I am a happy mother with a Beautiful family of two children…
