Have you ever had to hope & wait for something you desperately longed for?

“Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4 ESV

I spent my 20s and 30s attending a lot of weddings and baby showers. By the time I was 35, I had been the Maid of Honor, the Bridesmaid, and sat as a spectator at my friends’ weddings.

I attended the baby showers of many, and obligingly held their squirming little bundles of joy. Before I knew it, all those children were in school, and my friends had bought houses.

Some had moved away. They were all getting on with their lives and I was stuck – single and aging..

Have you ever felt like your prayers were going unanswered?

“Mummy, why is God not answering my prayers?” the curious mind of my almost eight year old daughter.

“Which one exactly?” I probed.

“I asked the Lord to give us a baby.” She stated plainly.

“God knows you need a baby. He will answer. Perhaps it’s not yet time”, trying to give a brief answer.

“Mummy, everyone else have a baby brother and sister. I am alone”. Now, she wanted something more concrete for a response.

How Can I Find Hope Before the Financial Breakthrough?

“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.” (Proverbs 3:9-10, NIV)

This post is straight from a journal entry I wrote a while back about waiting for a financial breakthrough. I wanted to share it today so someone out there that is going through financial distress could see the inside thoughts from a person going through it as well.

Too often we are met with so many articles on how to get out of financial problems, but I wanted to share specifically on finding the hope in the midst of financial distress to let you know one thing: God will always show up. Just usually never the way we plan Him to.

Holding onto Hope When Confronted With Devastating News

Have you ever been met with devastating news?

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28 NLT)

I got out of bed extra early on Thursday, November 24th of 2016. It was Thanksgiving morning.

I didn’t get up with the usual enthusiasm I had in previous years as I wasn’t looking forward to preparing the Turkey. This morning I was preoccupied with my 19-year-old son. He had been sick the day before and was weak from vomiting.

I was convinced that it was a stomach bug. After all it had been flu season and many people were feeling under the weather. All night I had tossed and turned knowing in my gut that if he did not wake up feeling better then we would have to spend Thanksgiving morning in the ER. I prayed throughout the night that he would be healed from what was ailing him. I needed God to intervene.

Is it really possible to love those who hurt you?

I tried not to let it bother me, but the truth is, it did.

It was recently brought to our attention that some not-so-nice things were being said about our family, by someone that we once called a friend.

It shouldn’t have surprised me. We had suspected that this was the case. Rumors have a way of making their way back to the person they’re targeting, after all. Yet being privy to this fact, didn’t make the arrow sting any less.

I tried to brush it off, pretending that I didn’t care. But that only went so far. Over the next few days, as the hurt sunk deep, my spirit became agitated- negatively affecting both my sleep and my thought life.

I called a friend to vent. It was good to be heard, supported and encouraged. But those feelings only lasted so long. I needed help. The kind of help that can only come from someone who has been in my shoes.

So I turned to Jesus.
